The Sweet Days Hot Nights Festival showcases the Burdekin region’s people, produce and culture whilst celebrating the Burdekin as the Sugar Cane Capital of Australia.
The Sweet Days Hot Nights Festival is all about showcasing and celebrating what is great about the Burdekin's rich agricultural region and the enviable lifestyle that comes with it, from fresh produce and culinary delights through to adventure and sports tourism experiences, country hospitality, great music and family-friendly entertainment. Headline events return to the Home Hill Showgrounds in May 2025:
- The Burdekin Cultural Fair featuring First Fire returns Friday 30th May 2025.
- The Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships returns Saturday 31st May 2025.
The Burdekin Cultural Fair featuring First Fire celebrates the diversity of the Burdekin while witnessing the first cane fire of the 2025 harvest! The Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships is a test of skill and endurance, with thousands of dollars in prize money up for grabs for competitors. Both events have something to do for the whole family with children's activities, animal farms, come and try stages, food stalls, a bar and much more!
